If you are dealing with desert-like skin this winter then this post is for you! I know a lot of us have probably gone through several products hoping that it would give us the moisturized skin we deserve. Not even giving a thought to one of the most age-old beauty secrets for moisturized skin. And I know this may sound crazy. But honestly truly for extremely dry skin, Vaseline is one of the best moisturizers out there, and here’s why.
Now I know we have all heard of Vaseline. We’ve all used it at some point in our lives. It has many, many, many uses. Such as putting it on cuts and scrapes to help aid healing. Or applying it to eyelashes to help them grow.
Some people even use Vaseline to help moisturize and mend their cuticles. It also is good for removing tough eye makeup without that annoying burning. And let’s not forget it makes an amazing lip balm. It literally is magic in the bottle.
How it works
Taken from the Vaseline.com website, Vaseline is a “pure petroleum jelly that is made from base oils and waxes which have been refined as per rigorous purity standards.” These oil and waxes mix together to create super-powered dry skin and eczema fighter jelly.
I remember when I was a little girl, my grandmother would
roughly rub this all over my face before we left the house during the cold months of winter. And as much as an I hated it, my skin would always be super glowy and moisturized!
Dealing with dry skin in South Korea
Since moving to South Korea, my skin has suffered like nobody’s business because of the dry cold winter months. Literally flaking and tight to the touch. Last year was tough, but this year, God has brought a miracle worker back into my life. VASELINE!!
I’m telling y’all this stuff WORKS! As the summer months started to fade my eczema decided it was time to make its appearance. But instead of appearing its regular appearance in a hidable spot, i.e. my legs. It decided to take it a step further and pop up around my mouth.
Girllll, the skin started to peel/flake creating dark patches around my mouth. It was horrible. And no Korean skincare could cure the dryness caused by my eczema. But luckily, Vaseline could!
How to use:
I apply it right after I finish moisturizing my skin with my regular lotion. I use it in the morning and at night. It has been working wonders. Not only had the eczema stopped spreading, but my skin started to heal and repair itself.
If you aren’t a fan of that sticky, oily look, then I would suggest applying a small amount and then adding more as needed.
I’m sure by the end of this Winter, I will be applying this stuff all over my body and face. But for now, my regular body lotion is working just fine. If you are having issues with dry skin. I highly, highly, highly, recommend you give Vaseline a try. It’s cheap and it works.
