How often do I shower to stay fresh?
I typically shower 1-2x a day. Usually, I shower in the afternoons or late morning. In the mornings I’m usually catching up on work for the blog, cleaning, eating breakfast, roller skating. So there isn’t much time for showering in my mornings. This means I usually get around to showering in the afternoon and after my afternoon shower, I will then shower again in the evenings, right before bed.
Usually, after my afternoon shower, I will have work or have to go somewhere and it’s just nice after a long day out to hop into a hot shower and relax a little.
I find that showering once or twice a day really helps to keep me feeling fresh and clean.
What’s my shower routine
Now that we got that out of the way, here comes the magic sis! My shower routine. I love for my showers to be a spa-like experience.
I have curated a routine that includes products that are great for creating that relaxing sensation while also being overall great products for my body and skin.
Wash Body with Lulu Holistic’s Turmeric and Lavender body bar
I absolutely love this stuff! Like seriously, love.
This soap is packed with amazing ingredients like Turmeric, known for being an anti-inflammation agent as well as a hyperpigmentation eraser. While Lavender is great for soothing and calming skin. Bringing these two powerhouse ingredients together creates a perfect soap for people who suffer from dry skin, body, and face acne, discoloration, and stretch marks. It’s an all-natural, organic product.
And what I love most about this stuff is that it doesn’t smell super earthy. If you’ve read my loc post called, How to moisturize color-treated locs. You would know that I am not a fan of earthy/herb-like smells. I enjoy fresh scents and this body soap delivers. Oh, and did I mention that it is black-owned!!
This product is bar soap, so use all I do is wet the soap and rub the soap into my loofah until it gets super sudsy. Then I use the loofah to distribute the product all over my body.
This product is a great add-on to your summer hygiene routine. Use my code to receive 15% off your purchase as LULU Holistic. Code: hdj Click here to shop!
Wash of Feminine area with The Honey Pot Feminine Wash
After I wash my body I then wash my feminine area with the Honey Post feminine Wash. I use the regular one, but there is also a sensitive one.
This wash is all-natural and was created by a black woman. It is a foaming wash, which I find to be pretty cool for a vagina wash.
I take three-4 pumps of product into my hands and then wash going from front to back. This is the proper way to wash/wipe a vagina. Don’t go back to front. Ever. Please don’t. You’ll end up bringing feces, even micro feces from your booty and to your vagina. Don’t do it.
This wash has great reviews on target and amazon. Many women say that it has cured their BV and yeast infections. As well as getting rid of any smells that might have been running rampant in their feminine area.
Personally, I’ve never had a problem with smells, but during the summer things can get a little more interesting, so this wash just restores everything back to its fresh state.
This stuff smells really fresh to me. It’s not a sweet scent and not very tangy. Just clean. If you are interested in purchasing this was
You can find this wash at your local target and you can purchase it online too!
Exfoliate the body
After washing I then do a body scrub. I enjoy the body scrub from Tree Hut. It’s their Vitamin C shea Sugar scrub. I love the way this stuff smells and how it applies to my skin.
It’s not super rough but very gentle and soothing while buffing away dead skin. I love all of Tree Hut’s scrubs but I got this one in particular because it has Vitamin C, which is a great antioxidant for the skin. Vitamin C is great for evening out the skin tone and creating even-toned skin.
You can purchase this stuff at Target, Ulta, Walmart, and other places. It’s a great addition to your summer hygiene routine.
Exfoliate your feminine area with Lulu Holistic Yoni Light scrub
The next scrub I do is for my Feminine area. See a pattern?
I use the Lulu Holistic’s Yoni Light scrub. As mentioned before Lulu Holistic is an all-natural black-owned brand that makes skincare and body care products. My summer hygiene routine would be nothing without this product.
Quick backstory; When I first started waxing, no one told me that I had to start exfoliating down there or I would get ingrown hairs. For some strange reason, I didn’t know that was a thing. Which lead to a crazy amount of ingrown hairs and dark marks on my mons pubis (the fatty flesh part of your feminine area. So after doing some research I found out that you have exfoliate regularly in order to prevent ingrown hairs.
This scrub is perfect for preventing ingrown hairs and is great for lightening and evening out the skin tone of your mons pubis.
Taken from Lulu Holistic website:
“Exfoliating removes dead skin cells which cause those stubborn ingrown hairs we all hate. Exfoliating also breaks up pigmented cells which in return will remove discoloration on the anal, yoni, thighs, legs, underarm, etc. Our Yoni Scrub is made with Turmeric Root powder, Lemon Essential Oils & Juices. Turmeric will is antibacterial and will reduce inflammation so that means no more painful ingrown hairs and embarrassing dark bikini.”
This stuff smells super lemon-y and is very gritty so it’s going to really exfoliate well. This scrub can be used 3 times a week but I use it a little more since I am more prone to ingrown hairs.
Also as mentioned above, if you purchase any of the items from Lulu Holistic be sure to use my code: hdj for 15% off.
After I have exfoliated I like to shave. I’ve read that it’s best to shave after you exfoliate because it gives your razor a better glide.
I shave using Schick Intuition Women’s Razor. These are the bulky-looking razors you find in the women’s razor section. They sell them everywhere.
I personally enjoy theses razors because they have that big block of soap around the razor so that I don’t have to use a shaving cream. I really dislike having to add on another step in my already lengthy shower routine, so I have cut a step out, that works for me.
These blades glide really well and I have never gotten nicked by them. Sometimes when I shave with them I wonder if they are even working, because they are so gentle on the skin. And they are always working.
Also, I only shave maybe once a week, so this step isn’t a staple in my routine. It is skip-able for me.
After Shower Routine?
So we’ve finally made it out of the shower and into our robes. It’s the final steps in our spa like shower routine.
Moisturize with Lulu Holistics
To keep things simple I like to moisturize with lulu Holistic Body-conscious butter. This stuff is packed with shea butter, coconut oil, and argan oil. All things to help maintain the skin mositure barrier and help reduce and remove blemishes on the skin.
Taken from their website:
NO preservatives NO chemicals all-natural and organic fair-trade ingredients, our body-conscious butter is suitable for the whole family, with its moisturizing and healing properties our butter melts into the skin upon contact.
This stuff is light as a cloud, but super-rich when applying to skin. So, I recommend rubbing the product between your hands for 5-10 seconds before applying. By doing this will help warm up the product and help the product absorb into your skin more easily since it is a butter and body butters are THICCCCC.
This stuff smells like almonds, very gentle and lightly sweet.
After I lotion up with the body butter, I then go in with my Lulu holistic Yoni Light Intimate serum, which just helps to lighten up any dark marks and prevent hyperpigmentation from ingrown hairs on my mons pubis.
Taken from their website:
“Our Yoni Serum is made with pure coco butter & Turmeric Root Powder amazing duo, Pure Cocoa Butter and Turmeric Powder diminishes the appearance of dark discoloration and evens skin tone.”
This stuff smells like lemons just like the scrub.
So there you have it, folks. This is my summer hygiene routine. Be sure to check out Lulu Holistic’s products and use my code: hdj for 15% off your order!
Stay Fresh my, friends.
